Festival Season in Telluride

Festival season has made its way back to Colorado – kicking off in Telluride on June 17 with the annual Bluegrass Festival. This is a town favorite as bluegrass is known as the premiere Americana roots music festival in the country. This event will take place during the summer solstice weekend and will include a number of concert workshops, a contest for songwriters and bands, and a ton of musical collaborations.

You can expect to see music similar to the 2018 lineup like Del McCoury Band, Greensky Bluegrass, Leftover Salmon, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and the Sam Bush Band. Catch all the fun at the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage in Town Park.

In July, check out the Wine Festival (June 28-July 1), where you can experience world-class wines and cuisines, tastings, cooking demonstrations, and the Toast of Telluride and Main Street brunch. Plein Air (June 28 – July 5) is an outdoor painting competition, calling upon artists to exhibit their work – plus, there will be a quick-draw competition!

Other music festivals include the Americana Music Festival (July 18-21), where American songwriters and acoustic musicians take the spotlight in the famed Sheridan Opera House, along with a free concert at Mountain Village. The Jazz Festival (August 3 -5) will take place in Town Park at the free stage at the Wilkinson Public Library.
