Ride the Rockies is Here!

Ride the Rockies is back in Colorado and ready to take on bikers from all over the nation. Each year, the event has a new route, but because last year’s was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 route will occur this year. The route will take place in Durango and loop through Cortez, Norwood, Ridgway, and Ouray. You can find the event’s headquarters at La Plata County Fairgrounds.

The tour even has a disinfectant company on the route to ensure the highest level of cleanliness. Ride the Rockies will maintain social distancing as much as they can and allow vaccinated participants not to wear a mask.

This year’s event saw a massive spike in registrations, selling out in May, as many were anticipating the ride after missing last year’s. They registered 2,300 people and estimated the actual number of those riding would be approximately 1,950. This has been the highest number they have seen since 2014.

Two-day tour registration closed on June 13, and any last-minute registration will need to be waitlisted. There are waitlists for a number of hotels in the Durango area, but Ouray Colorado lodging is ready to take you so you can enjoy Colorado’s most spectacular bike ride!

The event will end June 18 and will be roughly 418 miles long, with an elevation gain of 28,484. Ride the Rockies is a fundraising event that supports the Denver Post Community Foundation, the Adaptive Sports Center, and the Davis Phinney Foundation.
