Perimeter Trail has remained a scenically challenging route for locals as well as tourists, and it is particularly useful during those periods when there is lots of snow in the high country. The trail begins at the visitors center which also provides a useful map in case you want to shorten your trip versus navigating Perimeter Trail in its six mile entirety. Some of the sights you’ll come across include Cascade Falls, which is less than a mile from the start of the trail.
As you continue to explore Perimeter Trail, you’ll eventually discover the lush wildflowers plus the curiously named Baby Bathtubs. The popular Ouray Ice Park plus historic, abandoned mining sites that once held untold riches add even more appeal to Perimeter Trail.
