The time is near, ladies and gentlemen! This month, the Ouray Ice Festival returns for three days and nights, transforming the city into a mecca for all things related to ice climbing. The festival draws people of all skill levels to celebrate, participate, and discuss the increasingly popular sport of ice climbing. Visitors can try the latest ice climbing gear and tools from leading vendors and there is also the mixed climbing competitions to admire where the best ice climbers battle to win top prizes.
At night, the Ouray Ice Festival will host evening events which include rich presentations presented by experienced climbers. While the focus may be on ice climbing there will also be plenty of things to see and do including enjoying live music, plenty of great food, and even dance parties to keep things fun while staying warm from the cool temperatures. Attendees can also participate in a silent auction to score plenty of great ice climbing gear.
The Ouray Ice Festival kicks off later this month on the 18th and there is no fee to attend unless you’re planning on participating in the nightly events or the many clinics.
