The Ouray Hot Springs Pool is one of the options you may have available when looking for some outdoor fun this fall season. Another option you may not be quite as familiar with is Montrose Water Sports Park (WSP), one of Colorado’s largest water parks aimed at people seeking something as simple as wading in the water or going on an exciting kayaking adventure.
The WSP extends through the Uncompahgre River for 1,000 feet. Moreover, it is one of the small handful of water sports parks to be ADA compliant in the United States. There is room aplenty to spread out and enjoy the water with others while social distancing. The rock terraces set up for safe observation of the motion of the river can be used by spectators, with one of the areas providing much-needed shade during the warmer months.
WSP is persistently irrigated during late summer by the Uncompahgre River, making it ideal for surfing long after other venues have plummeted in other places. With picnics and pavilions, golf, playgrounds, restrooms and even a park for skating, the area surrounding the park is welcoming for families. Parking may be tricky if there is a festival, but otherwise it will be very plentiful, particularly if your preferred time to enjoy the water is early in the morning.
Montrose Water Park’s address is 210 Apollo Road, Montrose, Colorado 81401.
