While September is bringing with it some toasty temperatures, the upcoming fall season in Colorado will soon bring a kaleidoscope of beautiful leaf colors throughout the state. Best of all, the show is poised to be one that will leave a huge, lasting impression. The fusion of encouraging winter snow, the wet spring and frequent rains during the summer are working together to create a fall season where you’ll want to snap several pictures, selfie or otherwise.
If you happened to be anywhere in or near Keystone, you may have already spotted some fall colors. If you haven’t, the northern part of Colorado should start to see greater fall colors closer to the end of September and into early October, followed by the state’s southern areas.
Should you need some suggestions about where to drive to spot the fall colors once the season is in full swing, here’s one suggestion close to Twin Peaks Lodge & Hot Springs. The San Juan Skyway is the home of “Million Dollar Highway” which winds through Ouray, Colorado into our neighbor Ridgway. As one of the most scenic drives in the state regardless of the season, it’s worth your time. Make sure you carry a full battery for your camera and some extra chargers for the phone.
