Ice Climbing Practically Saves a Woman’s Life

Doing exercise or any kind of physical activity is often used as a way to cope with the stresses of life. Exercise is effective in getting rid of worries, managing anxiety, and keeping the body in tip-top shape. A recent CNN article highlights the story of a woman who also used a certain type of physical activity to manage addiction.

In her 20s, the woman started smoking pot on a regular basis, eventually moving on to harder drugs such as cocaine as a way to cope with lingering issues that affected her from her childhood. After running into trouble with the law, she recalled a time she tried ice climbing which helped her feel genuine joy without having to rely on drugs to achieve the same feeling as she had in the past.

Once she got into ice climbing, the woman concentrated her efforts on that and today, she is an avid ice climber whose skills have allowed her to become one of the instructors of one of the various clinics that Ouray Ice Park is recognized for. With its massive appeal reaching practically worldwide status and its ability to welcome people of different skill levels, the park is worth a visit.
