It’s no secret that Colorado is full of natural phenomena from border to border. In the warmer months, you can explore the beauty of the water with white water rafting and hiking, and when it turns cold, skiing, sledding, snowboarding, and tubing are a popular pastime and a great way to take in the scenery. Among the beautiful nature, Colorado offers four national parks and tons of other monuments and grasslands. When visiting Colorado or heading to Ouray Colorado lodging, be sure to add these places to your list!
Rocky Mountain National Park has nearly a million visitors every year and is Colorado’s most popular national park. The Rocky Mountain National Park stretches over the Great Continental Divide, making it a high priority on many people’s lists.
Mesa Verde National Park is located in the southwest region of Colorado in Montezuma County. There, you can see preserved and protected Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings and a guided tour from seeing archaeological sites. The park also has a museum and plenty of camping sites.
In the southern central portion of Colorado, the Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve has a 750 foot Star Dune that holds the title as the tallest sand dune in the entire country. This park has no shortage of scenic views and is worth checking out when you’re in Colorado.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park has tons of cliff faces and is possibly one of the most beautiful places you can venture out to see. It is often an overlooked part of a trip to Colorado but well worth stopping to see.
Check out these national parks the next time you’re staying at our Ouray Colorado lodging location!
