Happy July, everyone! If you haven’t made any plans for Independence Day yet, Ouray is definitely a place to enjoy the national holiday celebration. The Old-Fashioned Fourth of July in Ouray celebration is packed with lots of fun for the whole family to enjoy. Let’s explore a bit more.
The Fourth of July celebration kicks off bright and early at 6:30 am with a pancake breakfast by the Ouray Mountain Rescue Team at the Ouray Community Center. At 8:00 am, intrepid racing enthusiasts can participate in the annual OURAYCE which begins at City Hall and will take participants as high as 8,000 feet during the race!
Once you’ve managed to catch your breath, stick around for the Ouray Fourth of July Main Street Parade beginning at 10:00 am. As is typically the case, the parade will have plenty of heavy doses of water but the side which is home to places like the Ouray Brewery will allow spectators to stay dry.
Several different events begin at 11:00 am including kids games at Fellin Park, the Elks Club BBQ, Fourth of July Karaoke, plus lawn games and lemonade at the Ouray County Historical Museum. At 2:00 pm, keep cool with a water fight courtesy of the Ouray Volunteer Fire Department.
The Jeep “Glow” Parade illuminates the Ouray night before the fun-filled day ends with a spectacular fireworks show.
